Introducing Oklahoma City Chiropractor Dr. Steve Sweeney

Dr. Steve Sweeney

“I was nervous, anxious and excited all at the same time.”  That's what Dr. Sweeney says he experienced while waiting to see a chiropractor for the first time. His mother had taken him to her chiropractor to determine if chiropractic care could help with neck stiffness and headaches that had resulted from sports injuries. Well as you can guess, he liked it so much that he made it his career.

Dr. Sweeney began college at Northeastern A&M on a baseball scholarship. He enjoyed the challenge of being a student-athlete. “I was fortunate enough to maintain good grades and earn a transfer scholarship to the University of Oklahoma. BOOMER SOONER!”

It was a couple of years into his college education and time to make the decision. ”What do I want to be when I grow up?” It came down to three professions; dentistry, optometry and chiropractic. At that time, he decided chiropractic was the best fit because he wanted to help people and he enjoyed the hands on approach that chiropractic offered.

He finished his pre-chiropractic studies at OU and gained acceptance to Logan College of Chiropractic in St. Louis, MO. Chiropractic school was very challenging and rewarding. Courses included biochemistry, a major emphasis on anatomy and human physiology, X-ray, diagnosis, chiropractic adjusting techniques and patient care in the Logan College Health Centers. “I enjoyed learning about how the human body works and it gave me a greater appreciation of trying to maintain my health and to help others do the same.”

Dr. Sweeney's practice philosophy is pretty simple, "I want to get patients back on their feet as quickly as possible, and if I can’t help them, to find someone who can”.  Dr. Sweeney aspires to educate patients on their condition and what they can do to prevent it from reoccurring in the future.  “I try to use the gentlest techniques to help my patients recover comfortably. I think patients appreciate that.”

While studying in St. Louis, Dr. Sweeney was blessed to meet his lovely wife, Mary. They have four outstanding children; Connor, Sean, Brendan and Molly. “We spend most of our time trying to keep up with the four of them and that is a job of its own!  I enjoy coaching little league baseball and spending time with my family.”
